Luckily, my friend and I were able to attend the Central Coast Greenhouse Growers Association (CCGGA) Open House Scholarship Fundraiser. They do the fundraiser for scholarships once per year and the general public gets to see and buy their beautiful flowers. We only had time for the Holland America Flowers and Corey Nursery but what a reward to see such beautiful flowers. Plants were in full bloom of every color almost. A beautiful sight for eyes and smells for the nose too.
Holland America Cut Flowers
First and foremost, we headed to Holland America where my friend found many bouquets for her friends who have recently retired including yours truly. The gazing lilies smell so wonderful. They are actually a little overwhelming for some folks which have allergies to their strong scent but I love them.
I have grown anthuriums for several years but I prefer houseplants with more blooms. I almost selected the orange star.
I settled on an azalea because of the bright colors and the clusters of beautiful pink blooms. You can see why in the picture below.
Color Everywhere including begonia.
Hydrangeas in blue and pink with orchids in the background.
I absolutely love the orange begonias.
Please drop us a line and let us know what you think of the open houses. I love them and wish they happened more often.
